Based in Germany and riding out of Borkum, Marten is a Big Air rider with a calm approach and a clear love for kiteboarding. He started kiting at 11 and, at 17, continues to progress through consistency and passion. Hard to miss, Marten pairs an imposing frame with a quiet confidence on and off the water. As a student at the World Class Kiteboard Academy, he balances school, international travel, and riding, always chasing more time on the water and mastering new tricks.

Marten Interview
Can you tell us a bit more about your passion for kitesurfing?
A good friend of ours and local waterman, who supported me from day one, taught kiting to me and my best friend at the age of 11. Since then, I couldn’t imagine my life without kiting.
You just won the lottery, what do you do first?
I would build a climbing hall on our island, get a paraglider, establish my own foundation and save the rest for later.
Favorite quote or words to live by?
Use every free minute to spend time on the water or fly a kite.
Marten Interview
What’s the most amazing thing you’ve experienced?
Getting to travel the world, but always having a place I can call home, where a big part of my family and my closest friends live, in combination with the opportunity to do water sports almost every day.
What do you do with your day when there is no wind?
Spend time with my friends or little sister, do other sports like soccer or bouldering, and train off the water for kiting.
